On Monday, I posted about how to save some cash on Taste of the Nation tickets. One event was the Angeleno Magazine event at Snyder Diamond in Santa Monica.
I attended and got to sample cheese from the Cheese Impresario who brought Wisconsin cheeses, olive oil from California Olive Ranch and coffee from Intelligentsia.
There were also cooking demonstrations from three chefs; Laurent Quenioux of Bistro LQ, Quinn Hatfield from Hatfield’s and Walter Manzke formerly of Church & State.
Chef Quenioux brought a savory tapioca pudding with mushrooms. Watch my video of the cooking demo here. It’s somewhat long so here’s the chef wrapping up the demo here.
Chef Manzke brought his Alsatian tart which was a bacon flatbread flambee. I have a short video here.
Chef Hatfield demonstrated his Croque Madame which I had before at the restaurant. I had to laugh at a couple of ladies who discarded the bread and only ate the “smoked trout” which they mistook the yellowtail for. Jo from My Last Bite exclaimed “that’s the best part!”
Catch the next TOTNLA event next Thursday at Ciudad for an extended happy hour with a raffle and discounted tickets but don’t forget the main event is on June 6.
