The good thing about moving is you get to check out new stuff around you. I’m still in DTLA but now I have to find new DTLA lunch options.
A few months back, I met the web designer for Mendocino Farms‘ website and he recommended Hygge Bakery, a genuine Danish bakery. They also serve a few sandwiches as well. For about the same price as I’d pay at Subway, I got a great sandwich on freshly baked bread.
I decided to get the roast beef on olive bread. The bread had a great chew and the meat wasn’t paper thin. I also really liked the fresh green pepper strips in it.
The only downfall of this place is you’re probably going to want dessert if you dine in. Staring at the cases made me remember my favorite Danish butter cookies as a child. They got ‘em and more.

My Danish friend has taken me here. She really loves this place. The pastries with almond or marzipan in them are wonderful.
