After the Sri Lankan crawl, I went to visit a friend who declared, “I need a cupcake.” We went in search of them. First, we stopped at Polkatots but they closed at 5 and it was 6 p.m. We decided to look up Violet’s before going over there but they had closed at 4 p.m. I knew of one place still open though- Dots! We went to the new location in Old Town Pasadena.
The cupcake prices are fairly reasonable, $2.75 for a regular and $1.50 for a mini. We got three minis and two regular cupcakes for a total of $10.
fleur de sel
Our favorite was the fleur de sel. We also got the red velvet, chocolate (with vanilla frosting), chocobutter (peanut butter frosting with chocolate cake) and the cappucino (coffee flavored frosting with chocolate cake). What I enjoyed about these cupcakes was I could clearly taste the Valhrona chocolate. I really wanted to try the chocolate mint but they didn’t have a mini size of that one at the time.
I’ll be doing another Pasadena cupcake crawl. Look out, tooth fairy!

When you do your Pasadena Cupcake Crawl be SURE to visit Viotlet’s. They are my absolute favorite cupcakery in all of LA. I’ve tried them all (or most) and truly love Violet’s texture, flavors, storefront/kitchen, and employees. They are not gourmet, but perhaps that’s what makes me love them most.
