Las Vegas: Pho Kim Long

 

I had gotten into Las Vegas at 5 a.m. and spent the day with three hours of sleep, a lot of sugar, some carbs and a lot of booze. So upon waking and before heading back to L.A., all I wanted were noodles. I dreamed of pho. We were heading to Pho Saigon when we saw Pho Kim Long. Locals and tourists alike have praised this place and so in we went.

Our bowls of noodles came nearly the same time as the spring rolls so I neglected to actually try them.

 

With any new (to me) pho shop, I tend to order Pho Dac Biet which would be “everything.” I couldn’t help but comment how great this place smelled so I was really anticipating a wonderful bowl. It was definitely good but I kept hunting for tripe and never found any. Aw, tripe’s my favorite in this combination bowl. I made do with tender tendon and tons of meat. In fact, I couldn’t finish. And the idea of a 4-5 hour trip ahead of us made me stop stuffing my face.

If I went back, I’d like to try their bun bo hue. I bet that bowl of spicy noodles would clear sinuses!
