Santa Barbara: Quick Noodles at Empty Bowl Gourmet

potstickers

On my last day in Santa Barbara, we headed to the Santa Public Market. The Market is like Los Angeles’ Grand Central Market. Though it is smaller food hall, there was the usual collection of must-sees including a coffee shop and bakery. I opted for the noodle shop, Empty Bowl Gourmet, for my last meal. The menu featured all sorts of noodles from various Asian countries including Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam.

tom yum noodles

My friend decided to go for tofu tom yum noodles. I was trying to encourage her to get the  hangover noodles but she decided to go simple. We also ordered potstickers to share. These were good pork  dumplings.

boat noodles

I got the beef boat noodles. I have been craving boat noodles (who am I kidding, I’m always craving noodles) and while these were good, I can tell it’s not really the kind of deeply funky broth (i.e. with blood) that I love.

Still, this is a fine and quick lunch I washed down with a local beer before heading back to the train to go home.
