DTLA: Yoonycat Toast Popup at Demitasse Recap
Recently I checked out a toast popup at Demitasse. Chef Susan Yoon aka “Yoonycat” prepared three wonderful toasts.
My buddy had the Japanese tomato and lebni toast with seaweed which gave it such an interesting flavor profile. I loved these modern toasts!
I got the ricotta and pancetta jam toast.
I can never eat normal toast again. I kept wondering how did Chef Susan get the toast so perfectly crispy yet retain a softness to the bread? And the toppings. Yes, all wonderful! Loved the pickled veggies along with the fluffy cloud-soft ricotta and savory pancetta jam.
I washed my toast down with coffee like a good American. But what toast! And lovely latte art!
I hope Chef Susan does more popups soon. I missed the breakfast one last week but I’m rooting for more toast popups!(323) 844-3233
