Hollywood: Lexington Social House Now Open
I was invited to Lexington Social House last week to check out the new restaurant and club in Hollywood.
I started with the Lexington (Earl Grey-infused Jim Beam bourbon, honey, lemon juice, orange bitters). As a whiskey lover, I thought this was pretty good. I’m not sure Hollywood is ready for craft cocktails though as I overheard some people next to me exclaim this had too many ingredients. Well, I for one am happy it wasn’t a vodka redbull.
We nibbled on some cheese and crackers while admiring the space. The stick figures painted everywhere made things festive and playful.
I enjoyed the pea soup very much. The ham in it was just the right amount of savory.
I didn’t get a chance to try the fried chicken (although I did a few days later at Taste of the Nation- recap coming soon). Chef Mette Williams worked at Cut and Spago and I thought the few tidbits we tried like the scallop and pasta were pretty good. In fact, better than most offerings at an opening party.
The Ingenue (Svedka vodka, rock sake, lemongrass simple syrup, Clementine juice, fleur de sel, yuzu bitters) was a bit too much for me. I really wanted to like this drink but felt the lemongrass was fighting with the salt. However, I loved the Gin Gin Mule (Plymouth gin, ginger juice, mint, lemon, simple syrup). I liked the bite of the fresh ginger in this. So, so good.
With some great food and interesting cocktails, I may leave my beloved Downtown Los Angeles a bit more and hit up Hollywood more often since places like Lexington Social House now exist.

I remember being surprised at the quality of the “pea soup shooter with ham” when I was at a party at the Lexington Social House. Sadly, the only booze they were serving was vodka, so I didn’t get a chance to try their cocktails “with too many ingredients.”

Ha, it was a couple of “club girls” who said that. Seriously, they said the whiskey drink had too many ingredients. Um…
