LA Street Food Fest Returns on Saturday, July 16

It’s back! We are now one week away from one of the best and largest food fests in LA. Returning to the Rose Bowl, this year’s LA Street Food Fest‘s Summer Tasting features even more participants than ever before. In fact, the focus is a little less on the food trucks and more on STREET FOOD!

Julian Cox- Hedricks' Eastside

I’m most excited about Baja chefs coming to participate. And also, there’ll be a Test Kitchen Luxe Lounge featuring Hendricks Gin and mixologist Julian Cox.

Picca- salmon anticucho

Popular features like the Ice Cream Social and Tequila Tasting remain. Restaurants and chefs are getting into the street food and creating special tidbits for the LA Street Food Fest. I can almost taste Picca’s Chef Ricardo Zarate’s anticuchos now. What a coup to get Food & Wine’s Best Chef of 2011 serving up Peruvian street food.

Picca- chicken chicharrones

This year’s event will be divided into 3 sessions. The $60 fee includes everything- food, drinks, beer, cocktails, giveaways, chef demos, photo booths and kids activities. Even parking is free.

Naan Stop- samosa

I think it’s really cool there will be old-school Loncheros (taco trucks), carts and stands along with gourmet food trucks. I’m looking forward to trying Mariscos de Jaliscos, favorite trucks like Border Grill, Dim Sum Truck (who I discovered at the first LA Street Food Fest), trying more from the new Naan Stop and checking out carts like Seoul Sausage Company, Taste of Tunisia and local favorite Antojitos Carmen.

Beachy Cream - ginger wipe out

I got to try Beachy Cream’s ginger wipe out, a ginger ice cream sandwich with molasses spice cookie. It’s sure to be a hit during the ice cream social. With some ice cream favorites like Scoops, Cool Haus, Bulgarini, Natura Bar and many more, it’ll be hard to pick which will be a fave. Actually, why pick a fave? Just sample it all since the all-inclusive ticket is good for everything.

Can you spot the celebrity judges? Okay, now that I know I have to look out for the mayor…because of a certain incident last year

For those wondering if the $60 is worth it– YES, it is! Check out how much I ate and drank last year.
