SF: Smuggler’s Cove

Smuggler's Cove

Unlike my August trip to San Francisco, I didn’t really go to that many bars. One notable exception was a trip to Smuggler’s Cove.  We went after our day trip to Napa and as much as I like wine, I’m much more a cocktails girl.

something's on fire

Smuggler’s Cove as the name implies is a pirate-bar and by extension, a rum bar. It’s three stories and after viewing each story, we decided it was least claustrophobic on the main level. While it doesn’t look like much from the outside, the interior decor is pretty kitschy with anchors and other sailing memorabilia everywhere.

Daisy de Santiago

I immediately picked out the Daisy de Santiago as my cocktail for the evening. I love Chartreuse so it was a natural I’d go for this rum cocktail with lime, Yellow Chartreuse,  simple syrup and topped off with soda. It goes down fairly quickly so maybe a better choice would be a punch bowl (maybe even a flaming one!) if you got seats with friends. We lucked out that we beat the rush but Smuggler’s Cove is very popular so be prepared to wait to get in.
