San Diego: Tacos and Shrimp Burrito at Bahia
On our first afternoon in San Diego last month, we checked out the nearby Bahia Mexican Restaurant near our hotel. I was craving fish tacos and it looked like an ideal location- in a strip mall with colorful decor.
After trying the chips and salsa, I started thinking maybe we should have gone to the place even a bit further that was essentially a drive-thru shack. These chips were slightly stale and the salsas were whatever.
My friend went with the two-tacos sampler. She went with chicken and beef. She described the plate as a waste of money.
I had gotten the shrimp burrito and fish taco combo. I was more forgiving but found my shrimp burrito essentially a sour cream burrito. The fish was okay. I’ve had better in L.A. I suppose I am spoiled by handmade tortillas and really awesome fish that’s perfectly fried.
I’m going to have to do some serious fish taco research the next time I go down to San Diego. Or just stick to Ricky’s fish tacos in LA.
