The Taste returns Labor Day Weekend to Paramount Pictures Studios August 29th through 31st. The three-day packed event appeals to restaurant foodies to home cooks alike starting first Opening Night on Friday evening. After the evening soiree, the events continue with Field to Fork. The Saturday afternoon event features booths from some of the best restaurants in town including Chichen Itza, Girasol, Loteria Grill, Pine & Crane and Coni’Seafood. I’m very excited to see Sage Vegan Bistro, Wood & Vine and Eveleigh participate. There will also be cooking demos with notable chefs like Tal Ronen from Crossroads and Nancy Silverton from Mozza. I’m also excited to see beverages provided by SakeOne, Goose Island Beer and Ascendant Spirits.

Sherry Yard's demo

Sherry Yard’s demo from last year’s Field to Fork

This year there won’t be a cocktail focused evening but there’s still plenty to drink at Dinner with a Twist, a night with LA Time’s Betty Hallock, Chef John Sedlar and bar god Julian Cox among some of the hosts. You can upgrade your ticket to include the Cocktail Lab which looks like a lot of great drinks with some of the hottest bartenders in town including The Minty’s 2012 Hot Bartender, Jeremy Lake from Crossroads. I’ll also be hitting up the cocktail demo at the Taste Bar Stage with Alex Day and Devon Tarby from Proprietors LLC among others. As for food, check out tables from Faith & Flower, Ditmas Kitchen, Hamasaku, Sotto and The Church Key. I’m also looking forward to food from Tipple & Brine, Montage Beverly Hills and Chaya always does a great job.

The fun doesn’t stop and Sunday also two events including Sunday Brunch and Flavors of LA. Brunch looks good with food from Muddy Leek, Guelaguetza and Angelini Osteria. The California Wines presentation with women winemakers sounds like a cool demo. Later that day the cuisine goes global in a LA way. My picks for food include Jitlada, Cliff’s Edge, The Gorbals, Saint Martha and Fishing with Dynamite. I’m also excited about Meals by Genet, Chi Spacca and Smoke.Oil.Salt. I’m looking forward to Michael Cimarusti’s cooking demo (Providence, Connie & Ted’s).

For the wine lovers, upgrade your ticket to gain access to the Secret Cellar to try some exclusive wines.

It might be time to find some elastic waistband pants.
