San Diego: Late Night at Humberto’s Taco Shop
After our first night in San Diego for Bartenders Weekend, we found our way to Humberto’s which is a 24-hours taco shop. Seeing that I was in San Diego, I got two must-haves; a fish taco and carne asada fries. We got everything to go.
Sadly I didn’t pay attention to how they packed our sacks of food so I neglected to get a fork. No matter, use that salsa lid as a mini shovel. Or get into the fun of street food and just use your hands. I really wish I had packed some chopsticks or something in my bag. Though I’ve known bartenders to use bar spoons — the trident bar spoon is particularly handy with the mini fork on the end. Alas I didn’t have my bar bag with me either.
I really did enjoy all the beef and yummy guacamole but it’s too much for one person. Share with your new friends at the hotel.
I’m really glad I didn’t order more than one taco. I always forget how massive they are outside of LA. The fish taco was no exception at Humberto’s. Luckily you CAN eat tacos with your hands reasonably well.
Despite the mess, I’ll do it all over again.
