The Fourth Annual Viva Sangrita competition with Tequila Ocho returns to El Carmen this Sunday, May 10. The sangrita competition starts at 3 p.m. and features 7 talented LA bartenders. The winner will go on to the finals in New Orleans during Tales of the Cocktail in July.

But what is sangrita? Sangrita is the delicious sipper served with tequila. It’s meant to be sipped alongside your neat pour of tequila. Culinary-minded bartenders or perhaps in this case, “bar chefs” come up with very creative sangrita mixes.
Guests are invited to cast their vote for their favorite sangrita. There will also be plenty of tequila, beer and tacos.
