Orlando: Sushi with Martin Miller’s Gin at The Dragonfly
While in Orlando for Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America, I checked out a local sushi spot, The Dragonfly.
We started off with drinks including the Sumo Smash (Martin Miller’s gin, ginger, lime, mint). It is one of their best sellers at Dragonfly.
We asked Dragonfly to send out their best dishes and boy did they deliver. Starting with everyone’s favorite shishito peppers with a mountain of bonito, it was a great appetizer.
Moving on, we had the tuna tartare. I loved the chips searved with the tartare. And the hamachi crudo was so interesting with the olive relish. It was unexpected but worked well.
We also had the signature The Dragonfly roll which is baked tuna, albacore, white fish with scallions, spicy sauce and eel sauce.
One of my favorite dishes of the night were the shrimp tempura. They were fried well without a trace of grease.
I don’t think I can ever tire of miso black cod.
The scallops were probably the most visually appealing of all the dishes. I do tend to like raw or rare scallops a little bit more though.
And finally we had the braised short ribs. This was the meal I definitely wanted after judging 100+ spirits earlier in the day! It was delicate and balanced in flavors.
