New Orleans: Late Night Eats at St. Lawrence Bar
One night we swung into the St. Lawrence bar for some late night eats in New Orleans. We had just come from Latitude 29 and needed a little nosh. My friend had a Hemingway daiquiri and I had a Last Word. Both were pretty good and I was just happy there was also some cool music to listen to while waiting for our food.
Even though I was actually still (very) full from dinner at Cane and Table, I thought I could handle a salad. The crab and creole tomato salad sounded nice. I could barely finish the crab and had to give all the cheese to my friend. It’s nice to have somewhat healthy options later at night (it was past midnight). I did however eye the fried chicken and gumbo (of course).
My friend decided to try a special, the andouille and crawfish pasta. The big fried pieces are not fried green tomatoes but fennel. I thought that was cool and different. She said the sausage was really good and enjoyed the bits of corn as well.
Sometimes I wish I had a hollow leg because that was the biggest eating and drinking day in New Orleans for me. Let the good times roll!
