Culver City: The Soju Watermelon at Hanjip

soju watermelon
I recently went back to Hanjip for Korean BBQ dinner and saw they had introduced a new drink to go with the grill action. Get the soju watermelon with pop rocks for a really great time. And the bonus is you can eat the watermelon after your meal!

all the banchan
When I first went to Hanjip, I thought the banchan (endless side dishes) were good but was wowed they added even more side dishes. I particularly loved the cubed daikon and pickled perilla leaves which were great wrapped around the various cuts of meat.

seafood pancake
We got the seafood pancake to start. Unlike a lot of pajeon (pancake) I’ve had in the past, this one was light and fluffy with generous pieces of shrimp. I also liked the dipping sauce as well. If you manage to take home some like I did, the restaurant had a great suggestion of frying an egg to go with for breakfast.

pork combo
We decided to get the pork combo which includes both un-marinated and marinated pork belly as well as pork shoulder.

soybean soup
We also got our choice of soybean or kimchi soup. I always get soybean because I love fermented soybean (doenjang).

grilling our pork belly and shoulder
I may be closer to Koreatown but I don’t mind jetting over to Culver City for a great KBBQ meal set among the trendy space with eye-catching black and white murals. And I really can’t wait for the downtown Los Angeles location to open.
