DTLA: Drinks and Music at Resident

New Fashioned
New music venue The Resident opened a few months ago in the Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles. There’s a food cart and Airstream in the courtyard where you can get craft cocktails. There’s also a full bar inside by the stage.
I checked it out a couple of weeks ago but hear there’s already a new drinks menu. I’m guessing this New Fashioned is going to stay… maybe. It’s already a classic twist on an Old Fashioned whiskey cocktail with echoes of fall and winter due to the sweet potato liqueur. But with our mixed up seasons, perhaps a little brown sugar magic is just what we need in our windy one day, hot the next weather.

Oaxacan Razorblade
Or for something more freshing, try the Oaxacan Razorblade which I like you can get dull or sharp. I got it sharp of course. Just like my wit (just kidding!!). Made with mezcal and Liquid Alchemist orgeat, it’s a fresh take on a neo-tiki drink.

Daddy Issues
But the sipper of the night? Daddy Issues which I don’t have any comments about women searching for a long lost father figure.. however, I can say I liked this drink a lot. It’s great on the patio or if you’re good at dancing with a drink in hand, something to quench your thirst as you’re dancing madly away.
