DTLA: Lunch at Chicas Tacos
Could it be Taco Tuesday every day? Ever since I heard Chicas Tacos was going to take over the old Danny’s Tacos, I’ve been keeping an eye on this taco shack. It’s transformed with a new paint job and a cute patio seating area.
With the bright colors, the little shack seems much bigger though I still recommend eating outside.
The tacos are fairly huge so two should do you. I ordered three tacos and really struggled to finish them. It probably didn’t help I also ordered guacamole and chips. The chips were so good! And I needed the guac to balance out the heat with the beef and pork tacos.
Laying down astro turf in the parking lot next to an Airstream immediately brings to mind something kitschy. Bonus, there are a few flamingos around to really keep things playful.
The fish taco looked like there was a Caesar salad on top. It’s quite different and the salad gives it a cool twist.
As for the chicken, it comes with a refreshing chunky Mediterranean salad. The steak has bits of potato and packs quite the punch. But the boldest, spiciest taco was the pork. I couldn’t decide if it was the chile verde or the roasted tomatillo salsa but either way, watch out!
Find me here on Tuesdays or any day of the week because I love tacos.
