East Hollywood: Drinks at The Edmon

The Edmon at the Historic Hollywood Hotel
The Edmon at the Historic Hollywood Hotel opened about 6 weeks ago. We already had dinner but I’d like to return for food. Per my usual proclivities, I sat at the bar and admired the back bar. As I looked over the bottles, it felt like welcoming friends to a new home. Everything seemed familiar yet exciting to see all the bottles lined up against the big back bar.

The Edmon
My friend had eponymous Edmon which is a Manhattan variation. I thought the brandy, sherry and amaro worked well though the drink itself may have been slightly over diluted. The problem is solved if you drink it quickly and order another.
The Edmon – Woodford Reserve bourbon, Lustau brandy, amontillado sherry, Amaro Nonino, sweet vermouth, bitters.

Tea’s Knees
I had the Tea’s Knees which is a Bee’s Knees variation (gin, honey, lemon). I liked this version with the Earl Grey honey and a nip of Amaro Montenegro which gave the drink some backbone.
Tea’s Knees – Aviation gin, Earl Grey honey, Amaro Montenegro, lemon
I look forward to trying the other drinks on the list. I love that there’s a Hotel Nacional (named Hollywood Hotel Nacional) on the menu as well as a Bamboo and Gimlet. It feels very film noir in the bar and these drinks all call back a time of dames and gents.
