Art Beyond the Glass 2018 Returns to Los Globos in Silver Lake on Sunday, June 24

Mulholland Distilling
Art Beyond the Glass returns to Los Globos in Silver Lake this year. This is the seventh year and I’ve attended almost all of them (I missed year two since I went on a crazy road trip, I’m still sad about that). ABTG is one of my favorite events and last year’s was spectacular. As in years past, brands organized various themes for their bars but last year they took it a step further by assembling some of the best bartenders in the region into teams and they went ALL OUT.
So far the brands and bartenders haven’t been announced yet but expect similar high quality brands and well respected bartenders. Last year over 100 bartenders participated in the event. ABTG has announced celebrity bartender Mia Mastroianni as this year’s host of the event.

auction items
Your ticket is all-inclusive and you get cocktails, art, entertainment, and bar bites. You’ll be able to buy bartender art, buy raffle tickets and bid on silent auction items such as artwork, photography, rare spirits and more that day.

Ryan and Adam George at the Blockbuster themed bar at last year’s ABTG
As mentioned last year, the bar teams went all out with the themes. Some of my favorites included the Blockbuster themed bar.

Yves at Mulholland Distilling
I also enjoyed the tropical vacation from local favorite Mulholland Distilling.

Alex at Liquid Alchemist
Liquid Alchemist had a medical themed bar. Booze is medicinal, ya know.

Jodi at Rutte Gin
Be prepared to be delighted by the strange, absurd and fun shenanigans.

House Spirits
I also enjoyed some teams bringing touches from their home bars and they felt like mini popups. Being greeted Bar Clacson style with House Spirits drinks was really cool.

DJs Steve and Dave
And there’s always good entertainment from our bar community. Many bartenders also have other interests. Some DJ’d, performed music and more.

Joey at the Harvard & Stone Seedlip bar
I was glad to see some non alcoholic options last year besides water (by the way, HYDRATE!). Aaron and Joey brought their Harvard & Stone bar to life with Seedlip. The menus were just like the ones they have at the R&D bar at Harvard & Stone.

live music
Flo is always a favorite singer of mine at ABTG.

and other entertainment
Ooh, there’s “other” entertainment! Adults only, please.

Were there ice luges? Amaro Montenegro says yes!
Party! Party! Party! Amaro luge? Why, thank you.

And a surprise find!
While checking out the auction items, I stumbled into another room at Los Globos and found Leandro serving Virginia Black whiskey so be sure to explore all the levels of the club.
See ya there!
