DTLA: The Reuben at Casey’s Irish Pub

Reuben

Reuben

Casey’s in Downtown Los Angeles is probably best known for their St. Patrick’s day activities but it’s also a good place to go for classic pub grub like fish and chips. I also got a tasty Reuben there. One of my go-to remedies after a night of too much imbibing is a giant glass of iced tea (keep it comin’) and a Reuben. There’s something about that combo that’s amazing to me. It was then a bit odd to eat this before drinking but hey, maybe that’s what stopped the bender.

Casey’s has a great version with good pastrami and just enough sauerkraut. Their crispy potatoes are not really chips but as a spud lover, they work just fine.

I’ve had fish and chips all over the place including London and Casey’s makes a damn fine version. Pictured above is the small order. It’s just enough for one person but if you’re sharing, go for the large plate.

While Casey’s has cocktails, I’d stick with beer or whiskey here. I tried a Cameron’s Kick from their menu and the Scotch and Irish Whiskey drink had been reduced down to Irish Whiskey and oddly came garnished with cinnamon. It’s okay though, you go to Casey’s for the pub grub and a glass of nice whiskey.
