UK: The English Make Wine? Sparkling, even!
While walking around Notting Hill, we walked by Bumpkin which my friend said was a great little place that served food and drinks within a 100-mile radius around them. She raved about this sparkling wine from Kent so we went in to try it.
We talked about organic, seasonal, local foods. Sometimes I don’t like the term organic because you have to pay some fees in order for the (US) government to recognize your produce as such. This hurts the small farms. I do pay attention to seasonality and if it’s local, even better.
Our sparkling rose was really nice. It was almost like a non-sweet cider. Just a hint of fruit and I could see myself enjoying a meal at Bumpkin. The menu certainly looks like a menu I’d like.
I’ll have to look for more English wines in the States.
