San Diego: Bulleit Bourbon Brunch at Craft & Commerce
Anytime I get to hang out with Hollis Bulleit of Bulleit Bourbon is a good time. We were down in San Diego for Bartenders Weekend and she invited us out for a brunch at Craft and Commerce.
We had pre-ordered our meal and it was a nice surprise to get some additional goodies. I loved the fried pickles and the table went wild for the homemade cracker jack with huge pieces of bacon.
My favorite appetizer was the chicken wings however. We had a Bulleit punch as well as our Bulleit drinks (or shots).
The a la carte fries were so good. You want these spiced fries.
The house cracker jack even had a prize!
And then somewhere, someone’s mind was blown. Bacon-wrapped corn dogs. Yeah, this happened. I still can’t believe how great that was. I normally am not a fan of sweet during my savory but have grown to like corn dogs somewhat. And I love bacon-wrapped hot dogs. The two together? Forgetaboutit. It’s time to go back to San Diego for this.
The charcuterie and cheese plate looked great but our mains were hitting the table so I only really ate a few nuts from this plate.
I enjoyed my burger but started regretting not getting the fried chicken sandwich (not shown). Fortunately for me, my table mate was willing to share. We swapped halves and were extremely happy. I’d go back just for this chicken sandwich. Or was it the bacon-wrapped corn dog? Or maybe it’s those wings. Okay, we’ll have all of it. My friend who got the veggie burger knew she made a mistake when she saw all our happy faces being stuffed. She liked her healthy choice but envied us.
Good thing we had lots of whiskey to console her.
Thank you, Bulleit!
