Las Vegas: The Chandelier Bar at the Cosmopolitan Hotel
It’s not a secret I’m a big fan of the Vesper at the Cosmopolitan but I decided I needed to check out the other bars at the hotel properly. Starting with the Chandelier, a huge bar that spans several floors of the hotel. I once heard someone describe it as a cross between a little girl’s dream bedroom to a ballet. Either way, there’s a lot of glitz to the bar.
I have spent some time at the Chandelier before but having shots of Sambuca probably didn’t count.
We decided in order to really get to know a bar, we had to have cocktails. My friend ordered the Spiced Apple Jack. My friend really likes tart and citrus-based drinks and this was just what she wanted.
Spiced Apple Jack – Lairds spiced apple jack, yuzu sour, apple juice, rosemary infused simple syrup, balsamic reduction
And I ordered the Bluegrass Shuffle. Some knock Maker’s 46 but I find it wonderful for mixing.I was excited to see egg white as one of the ingredients but it turned out a bit thinner than what I wanted. I heard later they use pasteurized egg whites at the hotel so that could be the reason. Still, Vesper does a great egg white drink that’s thick and foamy so perhaps it’s a matter of shaking.
Bluegrass Shuffle – Maker’s 46, blueberry preserves, egg white, orange bitters
The Chandelier is a lovely bar and great for people watching. Next time, I’ll have to check out the Bond bar at the Cosmopolitan more properly. As you guessed it, I’ve only done shots there.
