Seattle: Hawaiian-Korean Tacos at Marination Station
A friend of mine just moved to Seattle and suggested we get tacos at Marination Station. Being from LA, I imagined my fave street tacos. Instead, I got Hawaiian-Korean fusion tacos that reminded me of Kogi Truck in LA– as it should since Marination actually started out as a food truck and continues to operate several trucks. Marination Station is their brick and mortar outpost. They keep to their roots though and have a truck screened onto their front window.
I wanted to try the kalbi (shortribs) taco but they just ran out. I ended up ordering the spicy pork and miso chicken. I declined the “sexy” tofu. I love tofu but not necessarily in tacos.
I really liked the chicken with its slightly peanut-sesame dressing. The pork was fine but I ended up missing Kogi truck more. You can’t take the LA out of the girl…
I thought about going back for the kimchi quesadilla (another favorite of mine from Kogi) but decided to stop with the comparisons and keep the food crawl going. On the other hand, maybe I should have picked up some ultra fab underwear…
Next time I’m in Seattle, I’d like to try Mariation Ma Kai which requires a boat to get to. They have a full bar!
