Happy Hour at Nic’s Beverly Hills
I recently checked out happy hour at Nic’s Beverly Hills. I had been years ago, long before I ever became a craft cocktails enthusiast. The bar is busy with locals and those seeking respite after shopping along Rodeo. It’s nice to find a bar that is still hopping after all these years.
Nic’s is probably most famous for their Vodbox which is a vodka tasting room that’s kept deliberately chilly. You’ll need the faux furs they provide.
Only one drink is discounted during happy hour, a concoction a craft cocktails enthusiast will quickly tell you that it’s not a martini. But you may want to order if you need to up your daily requirement of fruit juice. I started out with a Vesper instead.
However, all the bar snacks are $7 during happy hour which accounts for why the bar was so packed. We tried a few things including Nic’s oysters which are cooked with spinach and walnuts. Two orders of this during happy hour is still a buck less than their normal price.
We couldn’t resist the duck egg rolls which were stuffed with duck meat and came with a tangy sauce.
I also decided to try an Old Fashioned. Our bartender commented I really knew my classics. This one is done post-Prohibition style. It’s muddled with cherry and orange. It’s not bad but it’s not a classic Old Fashioned.
It was an easy choice to get the lamb pizza. It was more like a flat bread but still delicious.
I’d treated the lobster beignets as my “dessert.” The lobster balls were rolled in sugar instead of dusted with the powdered sort found on beignets in New Orleans.
Overall, the happy hour at Nic’s is worth a shot!
