Tacolandia 2014 Comes to DTLA on June 28
Tacolandia moves from Hollywood to Downtown Los Angeles this year. The all-tacos fest takes place 3-7 PM at El Pueblo de Los Angeles on June 28th. There will be over 40 vendors and some returning vendors like Chichen Itza and Bistro LQ were some of my favorites last year.
Like last year, there’ll be a special tequila garden featuring over 15 tequila brands. Tickets are $25 for just tacos or $45 which includes the tequila garden, 5 drink tickets and a VIP gift bag.
Besides tacos and more tacos, there’s entertainment. I suspect there will be mariachi like last year.
Unsurprisingly, some of my favorite tacos last year are from my favorite chefs. I do recommend going early. I went after the event was well under way and some were already sold out.
While I loved the meat tacos, some of my favorites were actually the vegetarian ones and the non-taco offerings.
Then there were the unusual ingredients. Sadly I didn’t get to try all the tacos from Chef Laurent from Bistro LQ but I did the ant eggs tacos, reminiscent of the ones I had at his pop-up at Starry Kitchen.
One of the favorite tacos was also his bone marrow taco.
And the ittsy bitsy tacos from La Guerrerense were the crowd favorite. Plenty of hot sauces to choose from!
They said this was a taco. I say it’s a burrito since it was the biggest taco I’ve ever seen. This is from Tacos Arabes de Puebla, a tacos stand located at Olympic Boulevard and Esperanza in Boyle Heights.
It’s going to be a taco-licious good time.
