Mid-Wilshire: Sushi at Sake House Miro
One night I was heading to the Wiltern for Petty Fest sponsored by Jameson Irish Whiskey. My friend and I found Sake House Miro nearby as a place to power up on Japanese food including sashimi. I got the feeling we stumbled into a neighborhood treasure.
Sake House Miro is an izakaya which means small plates including robata grilled items and other cooked food. I zoomed in on the sashimi platter right away though I would have liked to order a bunch of small things. My friend had the grilled salmon belly that looked good.
We started out with the seaweed salad which turned out to be seaweed on lettuce. I’m into it. It had a great dressing.
As an appetizer, I’d get the mini uni bowl. It really is very mini though as the bowl was the size of the teacup.
The sashimi platter was very filling with at least four thick pieces of five different fish. Salmon and yellowtail are always faves but the tuna and albacore were also good.
Next time I’m definitely trying more izakaya items to compare to perpetual favorite Honda-ya in Little Tokyo.
