SF: Banh Mi at Bun Mee

On one of my previous trips to San Francisco, I spotted Bun Mee and filed it away for times I needed an Asian food break the next time I was in SF. I came across the one in Union Square and decided it was a great place to grab a snack (especially important after a long day of shopping on and around Market Street).

My friend and I split a pork belly banh mi and some egg rolls.

The sandwich wasn’t bad but I felt it was a little dry. Where was that wonderful Vietnamese mayo? I also hate carrots so I thought there was an enormous amount of them and not enough radish sticks.

We liked the egg rolls though, especially with a squeeze of sriracha in the fish sauce for a spicy kick.

Bun Mee is great for a quick stop. The music is fun, there are outlets to change your phones (hella — yes, I used the word hella– important for a weary traveler) and the fresh lemonade was great. I’d come back to try other stuff on the menu the next time I’m shopping in Union Square.
