DTLA: “Rice Bowls” for Lunch at Orsa and Winston
Orsa and Winston has started serving lunch in Downtown Los Angeles. I heard when I was in Florida on vacation and couldn’t wait to get back home. It was the perfect excuse to go to Orsa which I haven’t dined at for dinner (yet).
Currently the menu features three simple “rice bowls” including vegetable, crudo and beef curry. The “rice” are actually a blend of rice, farro, barley and quinoa. Or go gluten free and order the kelp noodles.
We ordered the crudo and the beef curry. For the crudo, I opted for avocado and kelp noodles. It seemed a natural fit. I’m a seaweed fanatic so the springy kelp noodles were awesome. I enjoyed the slightly spicy sauce on the tuna. There were also plenty of vegetables including beans, carrots and asparagus.
The beef was very tender and I really enjoyed all the different grains. It featured the same veggies as the crudo which was fun. I was expecting a more traditional beef and potato curry but I liked this better.
I got a Baco pop to drink but I loved that green tea by the can, sake and Japanese beer are also available. I might also have to go with a miso brownie for next time as well.
