Eagle Rock: Getting Down at Taco Spot
Eagle Rock favorite Taco Spot has been satisfying residents for years. The Mexican food restaurant has tons of options for tacos, carne asada fries and more.
Naturally I wanted tacos and the more the better. The 3-tacos deal is a steal and comes with rice and beans. Plus you get to have 3 different tacos if you wished. I went for carne asada, carnitas and al pastor.
After dressing my tacos and getting the pickled peppers and sliced radish, I was ready to tackle my massive plate of food. I had gingerly drizzled on some salsa but after a few bites, I knew I could handle even spicier salsas. Street taco spots have taught me to not be so liberal with the salsa but I felt safe enough here to really throw some on next time.
A few years ago I was obsessed with finding the best carne asada fries in Los Angeles. Sadly the local stand I go to has closed down so the hunt is on again. For a really gourmet version, go for Taco Spot’s with a huge heaping of guacamole and liberal scoop of sour cream. I’d probably also toss on some pico de gallo to go with that juicy carne asada.
Bonus picture! I didn’t try the chilaquiles but a friend ordered this plate. He says it’s pretty much his favorite thing at Taco Spot and one of his most ordered dishes. It looks good with plenty of cheese and what appears to be a half dozen scrambled eggs.
The next time I go bar hopping on Colorado, I’ll have to pre-game here.
