Venice: Breakfast at Barlo at the Hotel Erwin
Over Memorial Day weekend, I stayed at Hotel Erwin. We enjoyed our room with a view of Venice and the rooftop called High Lounge is very popular with visitors and locals alike. I was very happy with the comfy bed and amazingly, there wasn’t much noise. It was a superb choice for a nice little staycation.
We tried the breakfast at the hotel restaurant, Barlo Kitchen and Cocktails. I was excited to build my own omelet. I decided to go with sausage, spinach and avocado. The guy at the neighboring table went with five ingredients! I probably should have considered cheese but then I’d also want more veggies. Maybe I shouldn’t be allowed to build my own omelet.
The squash Benedict was actually the better choice. With four Benedicts on the menu, I probably would have never gone with a vegetarian option but the creamy sauce, runny yolks and squash were really good.
Next time I’m spending more time on the rooftop with a Bloody Mary in hand.

That looks absolutely great. I love hotels that try to make breakfast a special experience 🙂
