SGV: Noodles and Daikon Omelet at Kim Kee
Last week I realized I never wrote about Kim Kee, a noodles shop in the same strip mall as Flavor Garden. I have big plans to do a noodles food crawl in this strip mall because there are also four or five other noodles joints I want to hit up one day.
One of my favorite dim sum items is daikon cake. When I ordered it at Kim Kee, I didn’t realize it was also going to be made into an omelet. It’s a combination of egg porn and dim sum fantasies all rolled into one. While it wasn’t the best daikon cake I ever tasted, the novelty was really fun. They also do this with fish cake slices so that could be a good protein starter if you want to go that route.
At Chiu Chow noodle shops, I tend to get get the combination vermicelli noodles because I like both seafood and meat as toppings. My noodles partner thinks Kim Kee is a little oily but I found my bowl to be fairly light. Still, I prefer Mien Nghia in Rosemead for killer Chiu Chow fare or Noodle Cafe in Monterey Park.
