Orlando: Italian Food at Primo at the JW Marriott, Grande Lakes
When you are at a convention located at the Grand Lakes with the JW Marriott and Ritz Carlton for 5 nights, you get to know every restaurant on the property. On our first night, I checked out Primo, an Italian restaurant at the JW Marriott for dinner. I enjoyed hearing they had a little farm out back and they were proudly serving vegetables grown on site. They also shared honey with Whisper Creek Farm: The Kitchen as they also keep bees on site.
I ordered an Old Fashioned whiskey cocktail from the nifty ipad menu (though the regular food menu is on plain ol’ paper).
The restaurant sent out an amuse bouche. It was a great start.
I had eaten fairly lightly during the day since I had just flown into Orlando from LA so I decided I needed a big carb fest. I zeroed in on the squid ink pasta with seafood. It was rich and hearty and just about the best meal of the table.
I love tomatoes and couldn’t resist the heirloom tomatoes which our server said were grown in the garden on the property. These were heavily dosed with vinegar and proved to be a little eye-watering even for a tart fiend like me.
