Orlando: Dinner at Highball and Harvest at the Ritz Carlton, Grande Lakes
One of the best meals I had at the Ritz Carlton, Grande Lakes was at Highball and Harvest for the Tasting Panel Magazine judges who were judging wine and spirits at Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America. I enjoyed it so much, I went back three nights later to H&H after the WSWA activities.
I tried one of their specialty drinksk the Kentucky Lavender. Being fond of Kentucky derby, I thought I’d try a drink with their official bourbon, Woodford Reserve. It was interesting though next time I’d pick Spiked Rose (Hayman’s gin, Lillet Rose, ginger syrup, rose simple, Burlesque bitters) or Last Wish (High West Campfire whiskey, spiced cola syrup, Old Havana tobacco bitters, orange essense).

I love soup no matter the weather. So what if it was hot outside? I thought the gumbo sounded really awesome. Other than the rice being a little hard, it was very good. It was also very filling and I was starting to think I could have just gone with this bowl as my dinner.
But then I wouldn’t have experienced the wonderful grouper. Grouper was on nearly every menu I looked at in Orlando. If a city could have an official fish, I feel like it would be grouper. It’s a white fish that was quite meaty in texture yet still delicate to go with a variety of flavors. Here I had it in a very Southern manner with okra and corn.
