DTLA: Badmaash’s Great dineLA Lunch Special
Badmaash is offering a great dineLA lunch deal right now. The restaurant week dineLA ends this Sunday, July 26. You get three courses including soup or salad, a main and dessert for $15.
You can choose the gazpacho or the beet salad. I went with the beet salad which I really enjoyed since it’s been so muggy lately. My friend loved her summer corn and tomato gazpacho.
Vegetarians might opt for the channa masala (Punjabi style chickpeas) as their main. It’s a savory dish over rice. Quite filling.
The butter chicken is way better than your average frozen Trader Joe’s version. There’s nothing like fresh Indian food! The chicken was very moist. I would come back for the lunch special. It’s only $12 during lunch (which is why it’s such a good deal during dineLA when you can also get a starter and dessert).
We did add naan to our order. I can’t imagine eating Indian food without naan. The rosemary was great though I’d probably just get butter naan next time.
I chose the Punjabi pulled pork as my main dish. The pork was so tender. Really lovely sauce and surprisingly not that heavy for lunch. I think the daily pickles help.
The three of us all chose the coconut milk rice pudding. I love kheer (rice pudding) and really liked that this wasn’t too sweet. You could really taste the cardamon in this dessert. The other choice are paneer cheese dumplings in sweet cream.
After this experience, I’ll come back for lunch again. I want to try their saag (spinach).
