Los Angeles Food & Wine Returns August 27-29
Los Angeles Food and Wine returns August 27 to 29. LAFW events range from a cooking demonstration with Chef Curtis Stone to intimate lunches with visiting chefs at local iconic LA restaurants to evening festivals hosted by celebrity chefs.
Kicking off Thursday night is Ultimate Bites hosted by Chef Curtis Stone. The event features chefs from all corners of LA including the Westside, Hollywood, Mid-city and Downtown. Also plating are chefs from Santa Barbara, Dallas and more.
And get bites from local favorites like Vartan Abgaryan (Cliff’s Edge), Dakota Weiss (Estrella), Kris Tominaga (Cadet), Kris Morningstar (Terrine), Antonia Lofaso (Scopa Italian Roots), Ian Gresik (Drago Centro), Steven Fretz (The Church Key) and many more.
One of my favorite bites last year was Chef Vartan’s corn panna cotta with uni. So good! I can’t wait to see what he does this year. I’m looking forward to trying food from Blue Ribbon Sushi LA, Mozza, Watergrill and more.
On Friday, August 28, pick a lunch with Broken Spanish, Faith & Flower, Love & Salt, Osteria Mozza, Redbird or at the Ace Hotel. Then head to a cooking demonstration with Chef Tyler Florence before ending the night at the Lexus Grand Avenue Night Market hosted by Chef Tyler Florence.
Tyler Florence takes on the hosting duties for the Lexus Grand Avenue Night Market from his buddy chef Morimoto. This year’s line up sees favorites like Chef Andre Bienvenu from Joe’s Stone Crab in Miami and Chef Charles Phan from Slanted Door in San Francisco. I’m excited for local chefs Hannah An from The District by Hannah An, Joji Inoue from Chaya Downtown, Viet Pham from Ray’s and Stark Bar, Akasha Richmond from Sambar.
Be on the look out from bites from chefs Wonny Lee and Yoya Takahashi (Hamasaku), Perry Cheung (Phorage), Chris Oh (Seoul Sausage), Pawan Mehendro (Badmaash), Jet Tila (Pakpao Thai) and Tin Vuong (Little Sister). The longest line last year was for Chef Alvin Cailan last year so make sure you jump in his Eggslut line first!
Don’t miss the finale LAFW event, the Lexus Live on Grand event on Saturday, August 29 with a performance from The Roots.
I’m looking forward to checking out bites from visiting chefs Elizabeth Falkner (New York), Michael Ginor (New York), Nick Elmi (Philadelphia), Michelle Bernstein (Miami) and Thomas Keller (Yountville).
I’m also eagerly anticipating food from local favorite chefs Bruce Kalman (Union), David Lefevre (MB Post), David Hands (Bouchon), Megan Logan (Cafe Pinot), Freddy Vargas (Scarpetta), Steve Samson (Sotto) and Bernhard Mairinger (Bierbeisl Imbiss).
With more than 30 chefs at each of the evening events, wine, cooking demos and lunches, this year’s LAFW is going to be a lot of fun.
