Thaitown: Late Night Eats at Red Corner Asia
My friend got the chicken satay which oddly came with white bread. Perhaps you can make your own chicken sandwiches. Open face if you want to get fancy.
Every couple weeks, I hit up Sticky Rice at Grand Central Market. Mostly I’m addicted to their Hoy Ka noodles which are Thai noodles in a tom yum soup. I ordered Red Corner Asia’s version and was dismayed it was so sweet. I couldn’t finish the bowl. I ended up taking home the food without the soup and heating it up in a new soup. The soup needed way more citrus to balance it out.
Otherwise, I did like the noodles. There was plenty of fish balls as well as shrimp balls plus fish cake.
I love morning glory aka kang kong aka ong choy. The hollow stem veggies were tossed in a surprisingly sweet oyster sauce. Maybe my taste buds aren’t used to sweet dishes anymore. Still, I found this to be a good portion.
I’m glad to have so many late night options in Thai Town and East Hollywood. Another option would be Sanamluang Cafe but I’ll be sticking to Ruen Pair from now on.(323) 466-6722 © The Minty 2015
