Koreatown: Dumplings at Nae Go Hyang

Once again, Instagram proved to be my culinary inspiration. I spotted leek and pork dumplings at Nae Go Hyang and literally went the next day. While we were there, of course we couldn’t resist trying some other Korean dishes. The restaurant is bright and clean but there’s a pungency in the air. I imagine it comes from all the open jars of kimchi on the tables.

I was really happy to serve myself up big globs of kimchi and kimchi radish to joyfully go with my meals. The dumplings had a great wrapper and was so full of leeks. The pork added just enough flavor. I would love to try these in soup next time.

We also had another appetizer, the seafood pancake. The shrimp and squid were very fresh and tender. And I felt like someone’s mom made the pancake with love.

Nae Go Hyang features fresh noodles so we got the seafood ones. Although the two of us shared the pot, I think it’s really meant for one. There’s half a small crab, a couple of shrimp, some squid and one mussel. Yep, definitely more for one person. Still, we had an amazingly filling meal and we had leftovers to boot.
