Little Ethiopia: Dinner at Lalibella

Veggie Utopia

Veggie Utopia

On my quest to find a new favorite Ethiopian place, I came across Lalibella this summer at the Los Angeles Times’ The Taste. They served an elegant portion of injera and a few different stews. I was intrigued. And then I realized Lalibella replaced Addis.

It’s now a cheerful space that seems much larger due to its newly whitewashed walls. There’s a bar in the corner but they don’t seem to offer anything alcoholic, not even beer and wine. They do have a rather extensive juice list. You can even get avocado juice which I suspect may be more like a smoothie. Because how do you juice an avocado?

In any case, there are a variety of combinations you can order from if you like trying a lot of different items. We went with the Veggie Utopia which has 12 different tastes. My favorites are always the lentils and I enjoyed the green beans at Lalibella as well.

Still, it seems my quest will never end because I spotted at least another 5 restaurants I have to revisit or try. I will return though!
