DTLA: dineLA Recap of Lunch at Cleo LA Live

lebaneh with feta
Whenever dineLA, Los Angeles’ restaurant week, comes around, I spend an inordinate time figuring out lunch spots in Downtown Los Angeles. After some deliberation, we decided to head over to LA Live. I’ve heard about the Hollywood location for years and everyone seems to enjoy it.
From now until January 27, Cleo is offering a special 2-course lunch for $15. That seemed like a good deal and it’s fun way to check out the place. You order at the counter and get a number. Your food is brought to you and service was really nice.
I opted for the lebaneh dip with feta. This yogurt dip is great with the thick pita. And there was plenty of the mild feta.

hummus
My friend chose the hummus. I liked that pickled veggies were served with both dips.

falafel plate
My friend had the falafel plate which was served with more hummus and pita. She thought the falafel was a little bland. I suppose it’s because we’re used to the fabulous falafel over at Madcapra. I liked them though. They were very light and had a crispy coating.

chicken shawarma
I normally wouldn’t get chicken but I was intrigued to try the chicken shawarma. It had very good sauce and I loved the fries. I only wished the chicken wasn’t sliced so thinly. It felt at times more sauce and pita.
I think it’d be fun to come back to try more of the menu for dinner but this does make a good quick lunch (or breakfast) option in DTLA.
