West Hollywood: A Slice Or Two at Prova Pizzeria

vecchia bari *

The pizza in Boys Town has improved from the days I used to go clubbing on Santa Monica Boulevard. I recently stopped by Prova Pizzeria for a slice or two (okay, two from the pie we ordered). For an appetizer, we had the burratina barese (not shown), which is burrata with pesto sauce.

I was debating the merits of a pizza with red sauce or no sauce (just cheese). I opted for just cheese though in retrospect, I had way more cheese than I intended since we also got burrata to start.

We ordered the vecchia bari which is rapini, housemade sausage and mozzarella. This pie had some nice leoparding on the crust which was nicely chewy. It reminded me of Brazilian cheese bread, pao de queijo. I did wish it was tiny bit crispier in the middle. It was a bit soggy but of course I folded my slice so that wasn’t a big deal.

Next time I’ll try the red sauce pizzas. I was eyeing a mushroom one.
