SGV: Korean BBQ at Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong Temple City

how does that teapot stay up?

The first Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong I went to is the location in Koreatown. Then suddenly there were a ton of locations and I hoped that meant the wait in Ktown wouldn’t be so bad.

Or… you could go to a location closer to you. My aunt was in town and we decided to try the one in the San Gabriel Valley, Temple City to be exact. Beakjeong is located in a busy shopping center with a giant teapot fountain out front. You can’t miss it and you might wonder how does that pot stay up. Well, you have plenty time to come up with theories as you wait (though not too long) for a table at this location.

tongue at Beakjeong

We got the large beef combo and also added in an order of tongue and kimchi rice.

bring on the steak!

Many have told me they felt the quality of meat at the neighborhood locations to be better. I did like the look of the steak and saw a butcher trimming cuts in a special glassed in booth next to the kitchen.

beef!!

The result is some tasty beef!

kimchi lunch box rice

And yes, they definitely shake their tails off to mix in all the kimchi rice in the lunch box (dosirak).

We had a great time and perhaps I’ll have to check out the other locations in Torrance, Rowland Heights, Buena Park, Irvine or even the two in New York!
