The Minty’s Spirits Week: Introducing Hendrick’s Orbium Gin

Hedrick’s Orbium

I recently attended the launch of Hendrick’s Orbium gin at The Wellesbourne.

Orbium is the first new expression after the original Hendrick’s gin. It starts with a base of the original with three additional botanicals: blue lotus, wormwood and quinine. It’s a limited edition gin and when it’s gone, it’s gone.

Martinez – Hendrick’s Orbium, maraschino liqueur, Italian vermouth, orange bitters

Hendrick’s Orbium Pegu Club

We tried the gin on its own but also in a few drinks. I loved it in a Pegu Club.

Pegu Club – Hendrick’s Orbium, fresh raspberry, egg white, lemon

Hendrick’s gin welcome punch

But the big reveal came after we had a few other regular Hendrick’s drinks. This was a good way to compare the two side by side.

Falcon & Frigate – Hendrick’s gin, Ancho Reyes chile liqueur, almond, pineapple, lemon

Hendrick’s tonic

There was a welcome punch, Falcon & Frigate, and of course, a gin and tonic.

I like the idea of trying different tonics with gins and mixing and matching until you get a tasty combo. Hendrick’s goes great with Q tonic. But I just discovered Hendrick’s Gin goes well with East Imperial tonic as well besides the favorite Fever Tree.

Hendrick’s Orbium martini

Since Orbium already has quinine in it, it was fun to taste it in a martini. Here we tried it from an orb shaped bottle!

We also had a drink called Wandering Star (not shown) made with Hendrick’s Orbium, jasmine tea and yuzu.

I hadn’t been to the Wellesbourne before and liked the bar. I’d like to return to check it out on a regular night.
