DTLA: Aperitivo Life at Zinque

Negroni at Zinque

I spotted Zinque one day while walking by the Ace Hotel. It’s right next door and I thought it’d be a good place to check out with my fine dining partner.

I had a Negroni to start. I thought this was great– and I didn’t even tell them I prefer a lemon twist over orange. Although I do prefer mine up rather than on ice but that’s a small quibble.

olives

We went full European with little snackies like olives and carpaccio to start.

carpaccio

I liked the carpaccio with just the right amount of cheese and arugula.

bruschetta

We got the meat topped bruschetta but I would have liked just tomatoes, basil and garlic. I realized after the carpaccio, we had a lot of meat going on.

mussels

I’m glad we got the mussels. Although it may have been not quite the season as these were on the smaller side. Still, they were sweet and relatively plump for their size.

fries

We had to get fries to go with our moules (mussels!). These were standard.

quiche

Then we split the quiche to complete our meal. I get the feeling Zinque is a neighborhood restaurant. Give them a try before a show at the Ace or for happy hour.
