Bar Minty: Martini Monday
Dirty Savory Martini
- 2.5 oz Wilder Gin
- .50 oz blanc vermouth (Dolin preferred)
- .50 oz Dirty Sue olive juice
- olives
There are still a few drinks that are stigmatized as “not classy” but I’m here to change that. Why shouldn’t we enjoy a nice dirty martini now and then (or often)? For my Dirty Savory martini, I have been into using blanc vermouth instead of dry lately. The salty-sweet combo is always a winner and really, this should just be called a Savory martini. But I’ll go with Dirty Savory Martini for now.
Add 2.5 oz of gin (I’m using local Ventura Spirits’ Wilder Gin) with .50 oz of blanc vermouth and .50 oz of Dirty Sue olive juice– which I think is the best commercial product formulated specifically for dirty martinis– to a mixing glass. Add ice and stir until chilled which is about 30 seconds. Strain into a cocktail glass (or two mini glasses) and garnish with olives. I simply put some in a dish to enjoy. I have also garnish with kimchi, cocktail onions and other wonderful pickled snacks.
Happy Martini Monday!
