Luxardo Tasting

After Happy Hour at Roy’s with the Vixen, we checked out the Luxardo Tasting at Bottega Louie.

Up until that night, I didn’t realize Luxardo produced more than cherries. I love their cherries and cocktails made with them and Luxardo marschino liquer almost always taste so good.

I sampled their limoncello, amaretto and fernet. I enjoyed all of them. Well, I did wrinkle my nose a bit after tasting the fernet but as the Luxardo representative said, it’s a bit of an acquired taste. They also produce sambuca and passione nera (a licorice flavored liqueur).

I enjoyed learning the history and fun facts about the liquers but what’s a tasting without a cocktail? They weren’t offered but I did have a couple of cherries and took a booklet of cocktail recipes. My favorite recipe was the Late Night Lemon Drop. It sounded easy enough for this cocktailian to make at a party.

Late Night Lemon Drop

  • 1 shot Luxardo Limoncello
  • 2 shots black vodka
  • 1 shot lemon juice

Shake over ice and double strain into martini glass and garnish with lemon twist
