The Foundry on Melrose
Last month I used my Blackboard Eats discount at the Foundry on Melrose. Perhaps having 30% off made me go crazy ordering up a storm but there didn’t seem to be an end to the madness. After ordering a mai tai to start, I proceeded to order mussels, a sandwich and a side of greens. I love Chef Eric Greenspan’s greens. I had managed to convince my table we needed two orders when I first had them during the fried chicken off between Chef Ludo and Chef Greeny.
I am utterly and completely obsessed with mussels. I find I love them with some sort of meaty broth. These from the Foundry were great. This is also my most pornographic picture of mussels.
A friend was trying to be good and requested a side of veggies instead of the fries. I’m of the mind if you’re going to be bad, be REALLY bad. But admittedly, I loved the squash.
I got my greens and then I got to work on this crazy sandwich. Pork belly, creamy sauce, gruyere…are you kidding me? I hope you love lovely fatty things because this is the sandwich for you! The cornichons and pickled stuff gave it a punch and I appreciated the small side salad it came with.
We were too full for dessert. Next time…or just more greens.
