WeHo: Rounds Premium Burgers

burger with bacon and fried egg

A few weeks before Rounds Premium Burgers opened, the gay boyfriend and I were walking by and saw some of the paper covering the windows had torn a bit. We peered in the window and saw these cute burger-shaped stools.

I was recently invited to come check out the newly opened Rounds. It’s a fast casual place so you order at the counter. First you decide if you want one either a classic burger (called Round), specialty Round or go custom.

I liked the sound of the California Classic- bacon, guacamole and American cheese. Under the specialty Rounds, the  most popular is the Office (carmelized onions, bleu cheese, bacon)  followed by the Western (bacon, onion strings, BBQ sauce).

If you go custom, you have a choice of beef, chicken, turkey or veggie patty.  Your burger starts off  at $5. Then you choose from the free standard toppings (lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles and 1000 Island dressing). The third step is deciding if you want a premium sauce (for an extra $.50 cents). Then cheese (for an extra $1) which you have a choice of American, Jack, cheddar, bleu cheese or Swiss). Then comes a slew of premium toppings to choose from ($1 each). In my case, I was most interested in the organic fried egg. You have your choice of bun; fresh, wheat, lettuce-wrapped or over a bed of greens.

At first I was going to order one of their signature burgers but after talking with the friendly counter guy decided to go for a custom burger. I went with bacon and a fried egg for my beef burger. But I opted for no sauce (trying to be healthy, yo) since I was getting Jack cheese. I did realize later it needed some extra moisture so I’d go with at least mustard.

Besides the fries and sweet potato fries, we also got the chili cheese fries. These were addictive.

burger with mushrooms

My friend got a custom beef burger with both carmelized and raw onions along with  mushrooms and Swiss cheese. I had a taste and I definitely am getting mushrooms in my burger next time. Or maybe I’ll try one of their specialty burgers. The slopper with chili sounded like the perfect partner to the chili cheese fries. What could go wrong with chili con chili?

Rounds is next to Fiesta and around the corner of the Abbey so it’s a great place to stop after bar hopping.
