Hollywood: Lunch at Palms Thai

Thai Elvis

The day after my birthday, I found myself craving a big bowl of noodles soup. I’ve also had this on and off again craving for Thai boat noodles. The gay boyfriend suggested Palms Thai. I hadn’t been before but knew about it because they featured an Elvis impersonator (who sadly suffered a heart attack recently so he  hasn’t been around). There’s a silver Elvis statue at the restaurant in the meantime (or maybe it’s always there).

Thai iced tea

I desperately needed caffeine to make acquaintance with the pounding in my head (did I mention it was my birthday the night before?). Palms Thai iced tea did a great job of chasing away the pain.

green papaya salad

We shared a green papaya salad to start. Oh boy, I asked for it to be medium spicy and it was really spicy.

yellow chicken curry

The gay boyfriend had his usual yellow curry with chicken. Palms Thai allows you to get it with all white meat if you wish.

Thai noodles

I was so excited when I read the description of the Thai noodles. There was to be tripe! Well actually, there wasn’t any but there was plenty of other offal. Liver anyone? And there were also a generous amount of fried pork skin in my otherwise beefy bowl of noodles. The broth was tangy which was nice. I could have used a few more noodles but otherwise this was a fine bowl. It’s not my favorite Thai boat noodles but it did its job that morning.
